I think I witnessed some sunshine yesterday but it might have been an hallucination. Whilst I go and try to figure out the UK’s bizarre weather system, here is my favourite UK Film Releases for May 2013. Enjoy.
Friday 3 May 2013 – Dead Man Down
It’s not a great day for cinema releases to be honest and this is the best of a bad bunch. As most distributors can’t be bothered to release anything decent (to compete with Iron Man 3 and the soon to be released new Star Trek movie) and the not-so-good reviews of ‘Dead Man Down’ coming out of the States, I’ll follow suit and not bother to go to my nearest multiplex in return.
Friday 10 May 2013 – Star Trek Into Darkness
Boom! I loved the last movie, despite initial concerns and apprehension, and I was genuinely teased by the teaser trailer. The casting of Benedict Cumberbatch as the new villain has all but made me pre-book a ticket. That said, I am a little worried as there has been a lot of money spent on advertising and that has a tendency to…
Friday 17 May 2013 – The Great Gatsby
Love or hate Baz Luhrmann you have to admit you are sucked into watching his films. I personally think this looks great and it has a big quality cast BUT it is in 3D. Wwwwhhhhhaaaatttt I hear you say. Maybe we could convince Paramount to release The Godfather Trilogy in 3D or even better, get Castle Rock to re-release The Shawshank Redemption in glorious 3D. It was good to get that off my chest. I’ll be watching The Great Gatsby in 2D if it is an option.
Friday 24 May 2013 – The Hangover Part III
I won’t be watching this and it’s not due to the masses of teen’s descending on cinemas nationwide (although it is reason enough). It is because it is my son’s first birthday and no cinema release will ever eclipse that. Good luck to those who venture into auditoriums this weekend and I will pray the sun shines and the kiddies play outside.
Friday 31 May 2013 – Byzantium
A British-Irish fantasy thriller about a mother/daughter vampire due. Sold! No more reasons needed.
See you in the cinema.
