Favourite UK Film Releases for January 2013
In-between designing websites I do have some other interests you know. Here are the movies that have got me most interested and excited being released in January 2013.
Friday 4 January 2013 – The Impossible
The first film about the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. I’m most interested because its directed by Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona of The Orphanage fame – a modern classic in its own right. It also received critical acclaim at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival.
Friday 11 January 2013 – Gangster Squad
Nothing beats a great retro crime movie. Here my wife’s favourite actor Ryan Gosling stars with Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Giovanni Ribisi and Nick Nolte in this 40s/50s crime gangster film. With a cast like that it’s got to be good.
Friday 18 January 2013 – Django Unchained
I’m not a fan of westerns at all, but Quentin Tarantino directed this so I’ve got to see it. This one follows Jamie Foxx as a freed slave as he treks across America. Also stars Leonardo di Caprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L Jackson and Kerry Washington.
Friday 25 January 2013 – Lincoln
Biopic of the American president with Steven Spielberg directing, Daniel Day Lewis in the title role, supported by Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones and Jackie Earl Haley – surely a winner. Can’t wait.
